> I'm really taken with Tobey Maguire as an actor. His turns in "The Cider House Rules" and "Wonder Boys" are remarkable. He projects this imperturbable outside status while seeming incredibly cool at the same time. Just takes the world's implacable weirdness in stride. As far as actresses go, I've been smitten with Scarlett Johannson ever since "Lost in Translation." (And she was only bloody 19 when she made that film!) If you're talking about classic actors and actresses, I'd have to go for Gregory Peck playing my namesake in "To Kill a Mockingbird". The ultimate movie hero, and he never throws a punch or blows anything up. Jesus, wish he'd been my dad. In terms of actresses, it would probably be Lauren Bacall in "To Have and Have Not". Amazingly, like Johnnson, she was only 19 when she played this role, though her smouldering sexuality would seem to indicate otherwise. No wonder Bogie was smitten for life. Atticus
Tom Hanks, Mel Gibson, & Robin Williams
Sandra Bullock and what's her name from "The Truth about Cats & Dogs"
