I think you have the right spirit, Deneb!
Real friends have a relationship of give and take, though. Since that is not possible in this particular situation, you can not expect anything in return from him.
I think you are fine in assuming he's a nice guy, after all he lets us come here to play! ;~}
Have you ever considered volunteering your time with people who may be in a position to need/want friends? Nursing homes are full of individuals whose minds may be fine, but bodies are not. They LOVE to have visitors, get hugs, hold hands, talk, have someone be nice to them--especially younger visitors. It would give you and some very lucky person something to look forward to. Maybe Hammy could go visit with you!
You seem like you have so much to give others and that you would really like a friend IRL. I bet you would be a fantastic friend!
