Sometimes I think that intense feelings that music brings out are, for want of a better word, holy. I had one experience recently with a song off 'Paris 1919' by John Cale. Something that highlights the feeling of irredemable loss. Mozart was good, but not lately, well maybe the variations at the end of the Gran Partita have that quality of restraint and grace in the expression of devastating loss.
