I'm in an intensive outpatient programme (group therapy) for chemical dependence; and am taking Campral to offset the automatic reach-for-a-drink trigger response I have to anxious thinking. The medication has been a godsend for me. I had no idea how much of my anxiety was due to being so frightened of being able to keep my sobriety going. The group therapy has opened up a new world of IRL support for me that I could cry about, so great is my relief.
The depression has been deep at times but to lose my preoccupation about alcohol has relieved almost all of my stress. This is the first positive experience I've ever had in my 25 year history. I am so glad that I was able to trust my T enough to be able to be honest with her about my chronic behaviour. She suggested the outpatient programme to me, and my pdoc added the Campral to support my abstinence.
