Hi lynn,
I asked the same ? a while ago when my ex T said I had a tendency to dissociate from my feelings. He later explained that he meant I tended to disconnect from them because i found them too painful to deal with. a lot of ppl gave me various explanations, but dissociation has a wide range, from what everybody does - normal spacing out, or like when you're driving down the road and all of a sudden don't remember getting where you are, to the other end of the spectrum, DID, which is what some others commented on here already.

I hope that helps,
fw
