I was surprised to hear on the news that...

hundreds of New Orleans refugees are coming up to NY to live - I think it's great, but I was struck because it seems so far away. I don't think I can really grasp the magnitude of this disaster. How many thousands of people are affected? It's absolutely incredible.
P.S. I've been watching the news but I just can't wrap my head around it-strange times
