The re-run I saw the other night was flashbacking or something to when he was had some kind of infection or something in his leg and he was in the hospital (I missed what exactly happened to put him in hospital). Anyway, his ex is trying to convince him to have his leg amputated because he will likely die if it is not amputated. He keeps refusing. Since he is in so much pain, he is going to be put in a drug-induced coma to stop his suffering from the pain. His ex asks the doctor if, while he is in the drug-induced coma, she can use her medical proxy to make the decision to have his leg amputated. And, that was all I saw. So, I just assumed that she invoked her medical proxy, made a decision that he was against, and it destroyed their relationship. But, I don't really know.

What I want to know is why she left House to begin with. It seems like they still care a great deal for each other.

Yes, I saw that show the other night. It was great. That's why I was wondering if her medical decision about his leg was responsible for ruining their relationship - even though she didn't opt for the amputation but just for the limited removal of some muscle instead. The other show where he had the date with Dr. Cameron was great too. His reponse to her at dinner about what he thought about her was brilliant writing.
