Well, I meant in terms of "average wages." I agree there are different people making different wages.
Like I said, when I heard that the "average wage" in Poland was about 500 US dollars I was thinking poor.
But that was before I got there and found that I could get a nice meal out, including a beer, for about 3 US dollars.
So when they talk about starvation wages in Nike factories I would rather hear about the buying power there. 8 dollars a week sounds horrible to us, but if your rent is only 5 dollars a month it isn't so horrible. As they report it now I have no reference point.
And we (Americans) get a bigger "relative" jump in gasoline prices because while the cost/barrel is going up, the value of a dollar is going down. A double whammy.
