Totally. And y'know, my brother is the nicest guy. I just feel like I'm nothing but a worry for him. The why can't she get it together sister. Of course, it could be all paranoid delusion on my part. I admit that.
As for your kid, I'm not a parent but it seems to me at 15 perhaps she'd listen if you explained how hard it is to parent as an adult, never mind as a child who still has so much growing and learning to do. Also, how limited your options become as a parent, how every choice you make has to be run through the is it possible w/ a kid question. Maybe w/ some of that info she'll think twice? Maybe suggest a pet? It sounds facetious but, dogs and cats can be a tremendous source of love and acceptance without so many limits...
