It only got that hot in parts of the Valley. The main part of LA was nowhere near that hot. It was in the upper 80's where I live. (I couldn't survive if it ever got that hot where I live because I don't have AC.) Parts of the dessert outside of LA (i.e. Palm Springs) have been even hotter than 117 in the last couple of days.
