well,
right now i am living with a mother who has OCD and bipolar disorder and one sister with ADD and Oppositional Defiant Disorder (14 yrs)and another sister with anxiety disorder NOS (12yrs).tonight they all got into it. the 14 yr old threw the 12 yr old down on the pavement b/c she ticked her off and then my mom started yelling and threatening to tear the 14 yr old apart.
i calmed the 12 yr old down and got her to stop crying and then went to find the 14 yr old. we had a talk about her inability to control her anger and how she should apoligize to mom and her sister. then i had a talk w/ my mom about how the 14 yr old felt sorry for what she had done and shouldn't be overly punished. so they all made up and went out to shoot off fireworks again.
the other day my mom blew up and started screaming at the top of her lungs and then ran outside toward the highway. i caught up w/ her in time and got her away from the road. later she told me that she would have thrown herself into the traffic.
now, i don't have any training for all of this, but i really am not that affected by it either. i really don't feel stressed. my own problems take the back burner and i get to help those i love.
i am getting my mom into therapy and connected with a pdoc so she can get some meds.
now, i was told a long time ago to keep a lot of distance btw me and my ill family members. am i doing the wrong thing? who else would do it?
