>Lucky you!!

Nezirov,

You mention i'm lucky?

From the ages of 17 to 20 being on and off SSRI's (6months at a time) and having sexual side effects throughout those last years of my teens, I personally do not consider myself "lucky"

I said I dont know of any permanaent damage that I know of....as since then I was diagnosed as bipolar and have been on lithium, lamaotrigine, sodium valproate, carbabazepine, oxcarbazepine and neurontin. All of these have caused sexual problems as well. Carbamazepine and oxcarbazepine caused impotence, as well as lithium and the other 2 were not of much help either. Needless to say my body chemistry has definately been changed and that would probably include my sexual chemistry to some extent.

It is well known that all psychiatric drugs can cause very terrible side effetcs and its scary to think when you discontinue the drug some of these effects may last, like Tardive dyskinesia with anti-psychotics.

I'm no way in favour of the drug companies, but how are they to know what will happen in the future with the long-term effects of new drugs on humans beings?..as they are not futune tellers? I'm sure when people first took lithium they didn't know that they could damage their kidneys and thyroid...when they found out did they sue?
Kind regards

Nick
