You're so right. Glam, not punk. Glam morphed into punk, IMHO. Bowie stands alone. He is Bowie.

Kiss was still doing bars in NY, so I heard. This was one of their big breaks, to do a stage show. And NYD were helping them along, of course. Quite the party, backstage.
They did the whole drum riser in the air, fire 15 feet high, blood and gore finale that they later used on tour as a headliner, but they did it as an opening act.
Of the Dolls, there's only Sylvain Sylvain and David Johansen left. The original bass player died last year of leukemia. Two guitarists never made it into the 90's, I think.
