In reply to Controversy..., posted by alexandra_k on May 15, 2005, at 20:52:19
I have the distinct feeling I've missed something?
My experience with "controversy" is that it just ends up with people even more entrenched in their own beliefs with more walls up against the "other" side.
My experience is that opening people's hearts and minds (and getting them to think about viewpoints other than their own) is best done in ways that aren't controversial at all.
Being honest, open, and vulnerable about speaking of one's own experiences isn't the least bit controversial, especially if one isn't labelling anyone else's behavior or thoughts at the same time.
Maybe it all depends on what is considered "controversial", though.
