If it were true that Jan. 24 was the most depressing day of the year, then that would mean that every one of my birthdays would have been awful. This year, my birthday was pretty bad but that's because it just happened to fall in the midst of a painful period of anxiety and worry. I've had a few really happy birthdays here and there. But, the statement that people who live close to the equator where the sun shines more often, do not suffer from mid-winter depression is just a lot of poop. I'm presently living in Thailand and the tropical location has done nothing whatever to change my 35-year-long anxiety/depression tendencies. Without an AD in my system EVERY DAY of the year, I will surely relapse-Land of Sunny Smiles or not. So I think that this so-called expert psychologist is making some pretty stupid generalizations.
