I used to be a member of another one. It has since dissolved. Probably had around 12 regular (daily) posters. Couple of hundred signed up though. It was a consumer run Borderline Personality Disorder forum (BPD Net I think). You had to either say you were borderline or could identify as having borderline traits (to stop people coming solely to ask why borderlines do such crazy stuff). Most of the posters were from NZ.
It was good. Small enough for everyone to feel included. Not that people didn't feel excluded sometimes. But I found it to be very supportive. Main person encountered personal crisis and pulled the whole thing down one day. I was upset to lose everyone as I hadn't exchanged email addresses with them. I got an invitation to somewhere else - some of the posters were trying to continue there. But I didn't like the new setup.
I found these boards around the same time. The sheer number of posters was a little overwhelming to me though. I liked that the boards were active but found the other one active enough and we were in similar time zones (whereas you guys are asleep most of my day!). So I had a bit more dialogue going on with them. It really did take me a long while to figure out something of the 'people' or personalities that went with the posting names. Just read and responded to content for a long while. Still do this, but not as much.
I guess I returned here when I needed boards again and the other one was gone. These boards have been here for a while. I would suppose that Dr B is less likely to encounter 'personal crisis' and dissolve the whole thing than a bunch of borderlines too :-)
