Hey there. It took me a long time before I felt properly in with things here. Not suggesting that I am part of an 'in crowd' or even that there is such a thing, but I think I get what you mean.
I say: it takes time. The more you respond to peoples posts the more likely it is that they will respond to you. Then after a while they feel like they get to know you as a person and so they start reading your posts because your name is attached and so it goes on.
Thats just the way I have found things to be. I try to note the various things that affect how 'involved' I am. While there are other factors, the time I put into the boards and the time I put into other peoples posts seems to have a lot to do with the time they give back to me.
For a while I thought there was an 'in group'. But then I noticed that they were just pretty regular posters on one board. Once I branched out to different boards I noticed different regular posters. Different 'groups' of people. I guess here 'popular' is just a function of posts and posts just take time.
