I don't know much about these meds, but isn't Epival a seizure med?
I am a migrainer and the way we deal with meds is if they benefits outweigh the (what is the opposite of benefit??) bad side effects, then it's a good med for us.
But Lithium, well, Lithium is a life saver.
If I were in your shoes, with those very annoying side effects, I think I'd see a neurologist. Epival is a med they use - it's also used for migraine, btw - so you might be able to get another perspective on things there.
It upsets me when we have to take meds to deal with the side effects of other meds.
In medicine, there is just too much info. How can one doc know everything? Even with migraine and neuros, we migrainers very often find we know things they don't, and with a good doc, they will listen and try treatments we would like to try.
You don't say if the doc you are talking about is a psychiatrist of a family doc, or what.
I hope my opinion is useful. Please remember that I don't really know what I am talking about - it's only my opinion!
