I'm sorry. If it's any consolation, it cost me my first PBC in nearly five years; I'm now on the short, slippery slope to a 52-week block.
> Is calling you a pedant "name calling"? Ah, well, it takes one to know one.
According to a fascinating paper in last week's "Pedants' Journal" (which should, of course, be called the "Pedant's Hebdomadal", because I'm its only reader and contributor and it doesn't come out every day, or perhaps it should be "Pedant's Hebdomadal Gazette" because "hebdomadal", unlike "journal", is an adjective), calling me a pedant or even a http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=%73%6D%61%72%74%61%73%73 is a compliment. Thank you, Shortelise; I'm flattered, and pleased to meet a fellow pedant.

:) If you have a nice http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=%61%73%73 to show to your dentist, this just might distract him from causing you pain. It wouldn't work for me, though, even if I had a cute http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=%61%73%73 : my dentist insists that all pets must be left in the waiting room.
