I do think that we are more secure than if we had not acted at all. During the 90s, this country failed to recognize the growing global threat of terrorism. They declared war on us a long time ago, and we are only now recognizing that and acting on that knowledge.
Yes the VC won Viet Nam, unfortunately, the humanitarian disaster that happened after the war was a terrible tragedy that this country could have avoided if we had made different choices.
That having been said, we certainly are safer as a result of winning the cold war, and eventually we will be safer after we win the war on terror.
The hysterics of those on the left are amusing. Folks, the election is over. Do you want this country to remain divided? Time will heal this wound as the Democratic Party slowly become more irrelavant and dissolve into the fringe elements that cost the Dems the election. The Democratic Party has become out of touch with mainstream America, which is depressing, as this country needs two vital political parties to make this system work. If one party starts to self-destruct, we are all the worse off.
Perhaps a new party of the middle-left could replace the Dems, as things do not look healthy over there from this vantage point. The current Dem party is but a shadow of its former self, as they certainly have made contributions to this society, the very one they now denigrate with the comments that continually malign the majority of citizens who voted in this election.
Bush is far from perfect, but he is the leader that we need at this time, and I am very pleased that he was re-elected.
