One of my family members had a gastro done on her. She weighed 300lbs she's 5'5" tall and had tried many approaches to weight loss. Within the first year she lost 1/2 of her weight. She had to have surgery to collect the excess skin that began to sag and hang. She has gone through so much since she did this. Now she weighs 140lbs.
With the gastric surgery she doesn't have the hunger that happens with the band or staple to the stomach.
Honestly the whole process was scary but she is so much happier, who am I to judge? She had an excellent Dr. He had done numerous operations.
I have heard horror stories as well. If the Dr. makes a mistake it seems to be impressively difficult.Dieting is so hard. I have been on a diet now for 7 months (this is one of many diets for the last few years) and my weight loss has ground to a halt. I was not losing weight at a terrific speed. A pound a month.
So I see your pickle.
I know meds complicate everything for an effective diet. My sister has tried every kind of diet and she is having a hard time. She's on Lithium and anti depressants. She is a binge eater. She has contemplated the operation but she has too much fear of surgery and the pain.If you find a diet that works please keep us posted.
