hi Texas chic,
can you work up a spreadsheet and see if the expense for the kitty is do-able? That way you could take him without any fears that you'd have to give him up.Here's another idea: A friend of mine recently took in a cat from some kind of rescue shelter place. They actually gave her food, and a litterbox, and all kinds of supplies. She's going to be a sort of "foster mother" for the kitties and may eventually keep them. But expenses are REALLY low, at least at first, b/c of all the stuff that's provided. I think the cats are also spayed/neutered for free, too, and initial shots are given by a vet.
I know you might already love this little kitty from work (it sounds soooo cute), but if it doesn't work out with this one, would you be interested in that rescue shelter thing? If you ARE interested, I can ask my friend more details, and find out if they have a web site and if it's a coutry-wide thing.
Good luck!
Jen (kitty lover) Star
