I'm in the same boat except I'm 34! I'm kinda like Jai, starting over. Its difficult once you get in the rut of being a recluse. I'm still fighting that battle. But its like Indie said, you really do have to force yourself. I've ended up having alot of fun after forcing myself to go somewhere (when I thought I'd rather just sit home alone and watch TV). Just leave yourself an out so you can leave if you're not having fun.
I've been trying to find ways to meet people (other than bars). Here's what I've come up with so far:
• www.meetup.com - A really cool site that allows people to join a group with a particular interest and then arrange get togethers.
• Take a class at the Junior College - It doesn't have to be for credit. There's all kinds of things you can take.
• Church groups - Not my thing, but people always suggest it, so it must work for some.
• Volunteer Work - You're bound to meet someone plus you're doing a good deed!
• Join a club out of the newspaper - They always have something for cyclist or hiking or something.
Anyway, don't feel alone, many of us here are in the same boat. Take care!
