I saw my neurologist today and he said that the results of the daytime study were not consistent with narcolepsy. And that the results of the nighttime study were suggestive of narcolepsy in that I started my REM cycle early, but not really *consistent* with it. I'm not sure what on earth he means by that.
He did prescribe Provigil, which I think I'll take just out of curiousity, although my gut tells me it will be an absolutely dreadful medication for me (and my pdoc didn't think much of the idea either), because of my problems with agitation and anxiety.
I have to see him again in a month, which annoys me because he's one of those doctors who always runs very late. I was there forever, he hadn't checked my notes before seeing me etc. etc.
I also have mild sleep apnea during my REM cycle. Which I'm guessing may well be at least part of the reason for my night-time panic attacks where I wake up shooting across the room with my heart pounding. But it's not bad enough that he'll *force* me to use the CPAP machine, and I declined to try it. I don't think I'd like to sleep with a machine, and it might scare Harry.
