Hi Mrs. C. -
I learned that I have to put *trigger* in the subject when discussing this topic!Sandy cut her wrists pretty badly after a week or so that included 2 attempted overdoses and some very dark times. She called the mobile crisis line that night and then must've called 911, but didn't remember. She doesn't remember much of the night or following day at all! Thank God she called and of course they committed her from the ER. She spent a few days on a very pleasant in-patient ward with a really good staff.
She is now hooked up with oodles of services and is feeling very supported and cared for! She will be attending a day treatment program, had her housing taken care of, has a whole treatment team with a counselor, psychi, social worker, etc. Her mom, dad and sister came right away and have been helping her sort through all the resources and choices, and of course helping her kids who appear to be getting through it all okay. She even found out her leave of absence from nursing school was approved, if she wants to go back next year some time.
She's taking Seroquel and may try something else. Basically the p-doc said she doesn't have a diagnosable mental illness - just really poor coping strategies that did not carry her through these trying times. She sounds really great, not 100% stable yet . . . but so much better and on her way! I hope it continues to be a happy ending!
I'll let her know you inquired and send her hugs! She's decided not to post anymore. She feels terrible for all she thinks she put everyone through. Of course I told her that's just par for the course when you get involved in these type of boards and not to feel badly about it!
