garage break-in

Posted by tabitha on June 11, 2004, at 1:44:00

they took my bike and my circular saw and left the side door open. I'm not sure if they got past the lock (it's not a deadbolt) or if I left it unlocked myself. I kept telling myself to put the heavy lock on the bike to discourage such theft, but I never got around to it. Oh well, haven't ridden it in 3 years anyway, and it's insured. But I feel violated. Then again, they didn't mess up anything, didn't steal all the other tools, and didn't touch my laundry. As breakins go it could have been a lot worse.

The unpleasant thing is just to think of someone walking up and doing this in the middle of the day. I live alone and usually feel ridiculously safe here. I've left the garage door wide open overnight by accident many times, no trouble, so how ironic the thieves come in the daytime with the door closed.
