<<<Truely paranoid is a tricky dx. Most analysts, see Paranoid-Schizophrenia as the preferable dx. It still serves the purpose.Voices come from our "mind's-ear" as much as visions emerge from our "mind's-eye". What we do with them is the story we're looking for. Each person will treat them according to their values.
The higest order of use would be when we discover that there is only one voice in there and that it is ours. Then the story is that we are "one-with-ourselves". "Demons" are other people's voices, usually limiting our behavior in some demeaning way. Sad part is that these voices are only bad-habits manifesting themselves in an undisciplined manner.
Creative people listen to their "inner voice" for inspiration; a good habit. Great stuff has come about do to people knowing themselves and listening to their "inner voice". I started knowing myself when I was 10. I looked in the mirror and said out loud, "That's me! Duh!"
I'm full of corrosive humor.....
