You'll be in my prayers. I have had a root canal, and honestly, for me it wasn't even as bad as a filling. But everyone has their own experiences. Just from your concern over the procedure, I would say that a Xanax beforehand may not hurt. Just make sure you don't take a dose that would make driving difficult or anything. I take one when I have to travel by plane, and it keeps me out of panic attacks. Another thing that helps is to take a cd player with headphones, and listen to calming music.
