Bi-polar and Sexuality?

Why is it that everytime I see a new head-doctor. He/she asks me-- "so, what about your sexual orientation?"
Well what about it?
Yes Im gay...
But I didnt choose my being bi-polar, and I sure as h*ll didnt choose to be a homosexual.

Is it common for Bi-polars to be bi-?
Ive heard lots of yes's and no's from different doc's. Its always a uncomfortable issue for them to talk about. (If its so uncomfortable, perhaps they should reavaluate their own "interests")
(slightly bitter today... dont mind me)
