Karen,
If the poetry you remember is any indication of the truth you seek in poetry, then I am sure that what you have written is lovely and important.
I think that poetry, unread by others, is quite lonely. Even if it is your T who reads it, it is serving a purpose.
Not everyone knows the rules of meter, when to look, or not look for a rhyme. Not everyone has at her command a large vocabulary, or the ability to evoke certain emotions with words and pulse. Still, everyone can make poetry.
Poetry isn't just about how I will feel after reading what you have written. Poetry is much more about how I feel WHEN I write, or how YOU feel WHEN you write. Every now and again, something I write has an impact on someone else. When this happens, both are blessed.
Let your guide to what you share be your heart, rather than your fear.
Dee.
