Dinah--triptans (?)

Dinah,
I'm curious--don't know what triptans is. I have a friend who has had intense headaches his entire life and been to every specialist available. Currently he's going to a pain clinic to rule out every possible secondary condition-which I think they have-and then get him on some kind of pain protocol. They were last focusing on regulating his sleep (with Trazadone), and also gave him some new pain reliever he said did absolutely nothing.
I'd love to give him a lead if you have one...
