I don't know if I'm the one who sort of stepped on toes; I'm kind of new here, and don't know all of the mores. If I did, I apologize, and ask that you point out to me where I did so, so that I can avoid doing it again.
If I understood correctly, I think that what you were talking about is when you start a thread, and someone usurps that thread for their own issues. I can see where a thread one started would feel somewhat personal. I look at the ones I started when I am just doing a quick check-in, and don't want to read everything. It does make sense to start a new thread when one begins to feel a need to discuss her / his own issues in someone else's thread.
Again, I don't know if I am the one responsible, but will keep your feelings in mind in the future.
