I saw Adaptation for the first time recently on DVD. I liked it much more than expected. If you liked Being John Malkovich you would probably like it (same writer, and that movie figures in the plot).
Also saw Pirates of the Caribbean in a theater. If you like Johnny Depp it is a real treat. The way he plays his part is really funny. I don't like action adventure much as a rule but enjoyed this one (I love Johnny Depp).
