When I went to see my lawyer I felt so relieved. Here was someone (a competent someone) who knew all the parts of divorce that I didn't. He was going to know the questions to ask, and what decisions needed to be made. Of course, I had to answer the questions and make the decisions, but he helped me see what the options were and the benefits of each option. It was like he was able to organize me when I was feeling that I was a total mess. It was very calming.
Do you know a good lawyer to call? You might feel more comfortable if your lawyer was referred to you by someone you trust. I got my lawyer's name from my Financial Advisor - so referrals can come from lots of places.
My lawyer kept things moving. He was good about giving me time to decide about things - but he didn't give me forever. It worked really well.
I think you'll feel better after you make the call. Good Luck!
