after waiting through two or three days of pain, from wednessday to friday... i did not in fact go to the hospital... but spent my time writing...i think i had feared the hospital more than i feared death, and i dont fear death at all so that is not very qualitative to say this.
who dictates that a boy is to be born blind, or that a woman gives a still birth, that a girl of 14 is driven to suicide... that Mary Surratt be hung, there is either a god who allows this...
or there is no god... i think i choose the latter, our gods are Dow Chemical, Proctor & Gamble, Phillip Morris, IBM, Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, the IMF, the Rand Corporation... http://www.rand.org/
Maddonna, a hasbeen after her second album recently released another desperate grasp for cash in another album... On the cover, she apes the famous photo of Ernesto 'Che' Guevara de la Serna... (che is the Argentine word for pal or friend or buddy)... She seems to imply herself a revolutionary... It does not really matter that she in fact is not, but that her proxy revolutionary pose is ironic and outside of her grasp of history...
That image of Guevara that has so captivated and consumed the West, the ideal of leftism, of revolt, is a bastardized snapshot of a man who endorsed remorseless brutal violence to achieve the goals of his movement...
These people, those that think of Che as a great hero, and in some ways he can be thought of as as one, perhaps, but the same... These people would have been hated by Guevara, those people, especially Madonna, would have been the first up against the wall.
All is staid here. I live. A photo of Virginia Woolfe pushes me towards some dumb destination, rocks in my socks and my pockets... but nowhere near the sea... Oh mais oui.
