Noa,

It's good to hear that your Mom is showing some signs of improvement. I'm glad you decided to make the trip, I know you weren't going to be comfortable, or at least as comfortable as possible, until you could be there to see what was going on first-hand. I believe you said your Mom was 82. I'm thinking that waiting a bit to see if a new med might have some effect is a good idea (I hope I'm reading your post correctly, forgive me if I'm not). At her age, surgery can be very rough, and the recovery afterward even rougher. My grandmother had to have one at age 84 and we were sure we were going to lose her. She was a very tough woman and fought thru it, but it was dicey to say the least. I wish her all the best and will keep her in my thoughts.

I am so sorry that you're having to deal with such a bad situation on the job. Since I lost what I now realize was my dream job nearly two years ago, I've been working as a contracted laborer. The company I work for stresses that contractors are treated exactly the same as regular, full-time employees, but nothing could be farther from the truth. I've even overheard FT employees referring to us in conversation by saying, "But they're only contractors, they don't matter". Makes a person feel real good.

I hope you make the choice that is best for you. With the job market the way it is, maybe it might be best to take the position while you look for something else? I guess I feel it's best to have something, even if it makes you unhappy, than to have nothing at all. But only you know what you can tolerate. I know I would quit in a heartbeat if I didn't have a family to support.

I admire the strength and resolve you're showing thru all this. I wonder if this isn't a quality you've gotten from your Mom as she seems to be a strong lady as well. Whatever you decide to do, know that you have a lot of people in your corner. I hope that someday all of us in bad job situations can find that perfect job where we can grow, contribute, and feel like we're a part of something important. But that will continue to be my dream.

All my best to you and your family. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Be well,
Greg
