I have had two cat's one for 18 years( Charlie RIP, PAL) and now Aurora ( a stray I found about 8 years ago) I wish she had a "pet", too. Well, she has me, but I am not up to her intellectual standards.
when the time comes, and I pray that is a long time from now, I would get two. they get so spoiled after, esp Aurora, that I would not trust her alone with another cat. Hell, I barely trust her while I'm sleeping...lol.
So yea, get two at the same time; they will both enjoy each other's company.
