When I wrote the secret to hot chocolate, I didn't mean the secret to hot chocolate with MILK. Yes, we almost ALL prefer the kind you mix with milk to the kind you mix with water.
My husband is a teacher, and every Christmas, he gets gifts from his students--box after box after box of hot chocolate, usually (along with all the candies and cookies that make me fatter each year). Someone always gives him a box of Ghiardelli's (the mix-with-milk kind we love).
But some students give him the water kind, and I'd never realized before that you have to measure only 6 ounces, rather than fill the mug with water. It was always so watery and blech!
So if you're ever stuck with packets of powder that require water, the secret is 6 ounces.
Let's go for broke here. I recently made homemade chocolate pudding with skin (I feel like I mentioned this already), and I used 8th Continent Vanilla Soy Milk instead of milk. It was fabulous!
