Yoga is definitely worthwhile, if you have a good teacher. If you don't, it can hurt you (like any form of exercise).

With a good teacher, and a regular practice (no more than 10 minutes per day, one of my teachers said) I've known people to come back from serious chronic conditions (back and hip problems) to be healthy and strong.

This occurred whether or not the people embraced yogic teachings and vegetarianism. Some did, some did not, and all improved. Including me.

Now I am a mess again, thanks to this lovely dis-ease. I 'should' be doing yoga (or tai chi), but am not.
