Nothing wrong with being a computer geek or nerd, actually something to be proud of. I do love computers & can spend a lot of time on one but I'm ADHD & can't sit still for long unless I'm hyperfocusing. I found that the semester I took courses in computing, I felt terrible physically. My muscles were sore, everything ached, & I had almost constant headaches. It's caused by too little activty for me.

Another thing is I hate learning economic/financial/business matters. Much of the programming done is for other companies & involves that sort of thing. What I learned is valuable but not what I'd want to do all day. It's not so much the computer, but the line of work involved.

My son, watching me work with my plants one day, told me that it's the sort of work I should do as I was so happy, singing to myself. I'm totally content & at peace when I do so.

What languages did you program in, & what sort of programs did you work on? I never got beyond the basics of C & HTML. My son can program in over 10 languages. He taught himself them all, even Assembly language! His bosses have told him he's in the top 1% of the best programmers world-wide. I think his Asperger has been a benefit to him with computers & I'm glad he's finally found his niche where he's valued & feels confident.

I love asking him questions relating to computing - I'm an eager student & he loves explaining it to me. I'm still fascinated with it all, what the capabilities of computers are, & where they're going. The development of nanotachnology is closely tied in with its advances.
