Alii, I meant no offense to Kid A or to you. I read that poem as about half fanciful and half dark. The first half was about the wondrous images of the dreams, and the second half contrasted them with the drabness of life and lethargy of depression. I relate to the drabness, dust, lethargy, silent phone, and desire to escape all too well. I also cherish my vivid med-induced dreams when my life is less than gratifying, and that's what my little comment re the raccoon dream was about. If people pick up that topic, then aren't we all doing what Kid A described? Lingering in the dream world for a moment, ignoring the dust.
It was a beautiful poem and I'm glad your response prompted me to read it a few more times.
Peace?
