Here are two little poems. If you like him, maybe you'll buy his book.

Making the Poem

& now I am so crazy I cannot
write a line without worrying,
am I fucking it up already?

& this is only the first line,
& I have watched every probing
doctor story on T.V., & I'm right

back where I began, my mother's tomb,
thumping, weeping, wiggling the little
toes of my words.

-----

Masks

The proper pills keep me
from cracking my head in the shower,
& the mess expected therein.

The Chinese child stretches her head
over the booth inThe Great Shanghai.
She does not speak as I would not speak.

I collect the scars of limited travel
on my face, a devil mask for me alone.
I squint from the eyeholes, & welcome

everyone home. Bumbling, foolish, I,
too, watch this shadow of a heart
leap from the landscape to some place

we can only know when we
dive from a dark boat out of love.
