No experience whatsoever, nor do I actually know why she asks this of you when she hasn't in the past, but...
From the viewpoint of me being one of the participants in the group trying to come to terms with my depression, I would be SO devastated if one of the other members did kill themself, especially after I felt I had got to know you. I would feel broken & not understand whether the groups was doing me or others any good. It would throw me in a dark hole & I would honestly feel some responsibility.
Perhaps your therapists wants to ensure the improvement & support of all the different members in the group.
...Just my own take on it.
