Numb and BP long swing

Posted by tootsypop on April 6, 2001, at 23:51:16

I have spent the past few months sliding in and out of states I have spent
the past 2 months off work I now have a new pdoc that seems to think that
maybe my problems don't stem from the bipolar as I have not been overrun by
my emotions but more by the symptoms of them. I have explained that I have
emotionally gone pretty numb at this point as I think everyone who goes
through months of emotional torment do and even more so that after years of
going trough this time and again it is part of a coping mechanisms that I
have developed in order to not self destruct but instead deal with what I
can the side effects of the disorder I get become hyper focused on them to
the point where I no longer feel the emotions that go with them. She now
believes that maybe I'm not bipolar at all since I'm not showing the emotional
effects of the disorder.

Is this a real possibility or is it part of a comorbid condition I don't know
of or am I really having to start over with a new diagnoses. I don't think I'm
the only one who does this.
