In reply to Anxiety Relapses, posted by Paulp on January 7, 2001, at 10:51:08
I've had anxiety for about 13 years. I have had times when I didn't need any medication at all and was fine but it always comes back again eventually. I think anxiety is something that's part of a person's personality and doesn't ever really go away. Not for good anyway.
Kind of a depressing thought I know but if you can accept it as part of you and in that accept yourself maybe it can help a bit.
Working so much doesn't do any good either. My anxiety came back ful force when I started this new job of mine too. 10-12 hour days and serious stress.
Try not to "expect" a panic attack because you will just talk yourself into one. Try to just chalk it up as your body telling you to slow down a bit and maybe you can head it off at the pass.
Best wishes to you
T> I had a nervous breakdown in March and went on Celexa. It took me about 5 months to get better and I got a new job as a network engineer. I felt great, even though I've been working a high stress job 12 hours a day, until a few days ago when I seem to be returning to that sick state. I haven't had a full blown anxiety attack yet but feel sick and close to it.
