Panic attacks and severe irritable bowel

Posted by Ted R on December 4, 2000, at 22:38:49

About a week ago, I had a severe panic attack, with tachycardia, hyperventilation, tingling, chills and severe cramping and diarrhea. The next morning, I passed some bloody mucus. It traumatized the hell out of me. If the xanax had not kicked in, I thought I would die that night. I have had irritable bowel for years, and the doctor believes that the blood was probably from the severe stress on the colon from the attack. Has anyone else had such an experience. I will have precautionary tests done anyway, but would appreciate hearing from anybody else who has had attacks like this where blood was passed the next day or two.....thanks
