In reply to Coral, were you the one afraid of BP tests?, posted by Racer on November 15, 2000, at 20:11:27
My mom, who has heart trouble, has to take her BP at least 2-3 times per day. She has a little cuff thing that fits around her wrist, about 3-4 inches wide. It's attached to a little LCD thing that looks like a digital square timer or something. She pushes a button and away it goes. It is quick easy and the pressure from the cuff does not seem anywhere as great as a regular sphygmomenomitor (sp).
About fluctuating pressures...I participate in studies where you get paid when the experiement is about high eye pressure. (I have high eye pressure.) Most often for a complete study they will measure eye pressure up to 8 times per day because of how it changes over the day. Also for the study, the pressure can't drop below a certain or you get sent home. Apparently for eyes, the pm is likely to be highest (there was one guy they called Rocket Man because his was so high, and highest at night).
