I'm susrprised this thread hasn't been redirected yet, but while it's here I'll say that while I currently am in touch with relatively few people AT ALL, of the fifteen or so gay men I'm in contact with offline, none are drug abusers and most are actively involved in their churches.
Which may be a place to consider meeting gay men? If you're a person of faith, I mean, and in a metropolitan area, is there a gay or gay-friendly church/temple you can try out? Good ol' Dr Ruth (rememer her?) always suggested church/temple to her heterosexual callers as a good place to meet nice people.
Another possibility is political organizations, not even necessarily gay ones but groups like Log Cabin Republicans or libertarians (on one arm) and Green Party or environmental groups (on another). Again, it helps to be in a major metropolitan area…
