Matt, knowing Racer as well as I do, I am quite certain that her "eye-rolling" was directed at thoughts of her own mother, not at you. I think she gave excellent advice, which you might want to tuck away for a time when you feel it's a better fit with your situation.

In the meantime, can you get away for a bit? Stay in your room and distract yourself, maybe? Or go to a movie or for a walk?

Finally, I'd like to recommend a book which you can take or leave. It's called "The Anger Control Workbook". It's useful for identifying what triggers anger, what level it's at, and intervening before you get to the explosion level.

When you described your feelings in an earlier thread about fighting with your mom and wondered if that was mania, well, it sounded to me more like rage. Maybe the adrenaline surge that comes along with it causes those feelings, thoughts, and physical sensations that feel like mania. And given the way you've described your mother, I can certainly see why you might feel anger and/or rage. It must be very difficult.

Take care of yourself. You're a valued member here.
