My first psychiatrist way back in the sixties made a special point of this. I "got" it reasonably quickly, but my parents (we were doing family therapy) couldn't get away from the (quite incorrect) idea that my pdoc was blaming them for my problems. This idea spread to others in the family, and caused considerable estrangement.
I really appreciated the book on a somewhat similar theme, "You are not the Target" by Laura Huxley, which I read years ago. It may still be in print, although expensive, but there are plenty of used copies available on Amazon, AbeBooks, etc. Unfortunately, I couldn't find an eBook.
I would really like to read it again; if anyone knows of an eBook edition please Babblemail me or post here; I use Kindle but can convert most formats.
My Meds

Escitalopram 20 mg
Bupropion XR 75 mg
Diazepam 5 mg tid - weaning
Propranolol 20 mg tid
